Terracotta

Terracotta, Italian for baked earth, is known for its durability and earthy appeal. A ceramic that is manufactured by firing refined clay mixtures at high temperatures in kilns, Terracotta has been in use in a variety of industries for many centuries. Used for construction and decorative arts since ancient times in cultures around the world Terracotta is made from natural clay which gives it a characteristic reddish-brown colour. The colour varies slightly depending on the clay used. Terracotta tiles are tough, last for ages and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. They are resistant to mould, fungus and bacterial growth as well. Providing a rustic look that is hard to imitate, they can be used sealed or unsealed and may be glazed for extra durability or to provide colour.
